Hey everyone! Today we are bringing a very highly requested feature to Alkemion Studio, Link Directions! This feature is one we’ve been wanting to integrate for a long time, and it’s such a pleasure to finally be able to release it!
New Feature: Link Directions!
- You will now be able to specify a direction for every Link between two Nodes. To do that you can open any window displaying Links between Nodes and click the “Cycle Direction” button.
There are 4 possible variants: left to right, right to left, bidirectional, and no direction.
- This feature comes with visual customization for Link Tokens, as you can now set Heads at the ends of Link Tokens. You can set the right and left heads by setting the style of each one to one of the following: arrow, circle, square or diamond. Setting the style to “none” will remove the Head. These styles and individual settings can be set for each Head independently of the other. You can however link the settings of both Heads together by clicking the “link” button in the middle. When enabled, changing the settings of one Head will automatically change the settings of the other Head to match. There are additional options available for customizing Heads, such as: color, size and opacity. If no specific value is set for these options, they will default to the values used by the main Link Token visual settings.
- You can also manage a Link’s direction from the Link Token settings. The Direction Sync option allows you to synchronize this Link Token’s Direction to a specific Link between the two Nodes it connects. In the case where Direction Sync is set, setting a Link’s Direction will automatically set the Heads of every Link Token synced to that Link to match its Direction. Conversely, setting a Link Token’s Head to an Arrow will change its synced Link’s direction to match it. Doing so will update the Heads of every Link Token on the Board synced to the same Link to match.
Changes:
- Creating a new Link Token using drag and drop on the Board will now only select the new Link Token instead of also selecting Node Tokens on both ends of the new Link Token.
- Node Links Info and Node Link Token Settings windows will no longer open in the center of the screen but on the right to facilitate rapid use and not have them spawn on top of the clicked Link Token most of the time.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a bug where a Node Link Token’s settings window would not be closed when deleting that token.
- Fixed a bug where in a Reader Board, double clicking a Node Token’s name would prevent the board from panning using middle mouse click.
- Fixed a bug where double clicking on a button in a selected inline image’s menu in the Editor would open the Image Browser to change it.
